THE HOUSE OF NEW HORIZONS STORY

I have been involved in the D/s-BDSM lifestyle for 35 years and have lectured, and counseled for more than 25 of those years.  I have a live-in 24/7 submissive known as the shard, aka BadKitty.  Together we work to build our home and House on solid principles.

I am a firm believer in ‘community’.  Having others to learn from, and share with, becomes very important when your life is outside of societies' mainstream.  All relationships can be stressful at times, and benefit from the experiences of others who have had similar issues. Though many of the issues in D/s-BDSM can be the same as those of vanillas, only other Dom/mes or submissive/slaves can truly understand and relate to the lifestyle.

House of New Horizons evolved out of mutual need.  It came from my personal need to build my House around specific goals and talents and the needs of the D/s-BDSM community to have a safe place to learn, share and grow. 

House of New Horizons is dedicated to the realities of living a D/s-BDSM lifestyle.  Aside from education through lectures, seminars and counseling, we offer practical tips and advice on building your own local community, and where to find the best resources. We also offer affordable bondage gear through BadKittyLeathers® 

House of New Horizons also has a vision for our future.  Local plans include a D/s-BDSM Community Center and Library, as well as continuing programs of lectures, discussion groups and demos.

We have, on a small scale, run a ‘safe house’ for those in the D/s-BDSM lifestyle who need help getting out of destructive relationships and starting over.  It is our goal, in the not too distant future, to develop a national network not unlike the National Safe Call Registry.  Keep checking here for more information.

Today, D/s-BDSM is looked at as ‘strange’, ‘weird’, ‘perverted’.  We are looking towards tomorrow.  Through dispelling misconceptions, and through educating, through setting an example and being true to ourselves, we can stop being seen as a stereotype and start being simply another life choice.
